The name is famous in New Zealand as a geothermal wonderland situated on the Waikato River.
We take you from Taupo to a spot on the Waikato River just 7km upstream. From there you float in your kayak with the current through a gorge and past beds of water lilies to the lunch spot.
This is yet another geothermal area where we use a natural boiling hot pool to cook the food. Boiled potatoes, sausages, bread and butter and tomato sauce are on the menu, with the cooking done by nature in 20 minutes.
After lunch we go on down the river to Orakei Korako, the Hidden Valley , a truly unique thermal wonderland, where the micro-climate is so unique that the swallows never leave. This Hidden Valley visit is included in the price.
